Ivy League Universities
The Ivy League is a collection of 8 north-east American universities whose sports teams play in a college league. However, due to the high academic standards of these schools, the term has become associated with academic excellence in the country.
Little Ivies
‘Little Ivies’ refers to the small, high quality and expensive private universities in the northeast that are not part of the official ‘Ivy League’ list.

The term ‘Public Ivy’ is given to high quality US universities that are publically funded, providing education many believe as good as the private ‘Ivy League’ schools but at a less expensive price.
