The present continuous is used for things happening now.

Making The Present Tense

To make the present continuous, use the verb ‘be’ + ‘ing’.

Remember the verb ‘be’ changes for different subjects:

I am
He / She / It is
You / We / They / Some / Many are

I am running
She is eating
They are going

Present Tense vs. Present Continuous

The present tense is not used for things happening right now. It is used for things that are true at the moment.

I go to school on Monday. (true)
I am going to school. (now)

I like beef. (true)
I am eating beef. (now)

Use these pronouns and verbs to make the present continuous:

Example: I + drink I am drinking

You + think
She + play
Some + sleep
We + study
